Derrick Rose picked the right time to get hot. So too did his Chicago Bulls teammates.
Rose scored eight of his 18 points during a 16-6 fourth-quarter spurt, a run that turned the game in the Bulls’ favor. Down 80-74 to Denver midway through the fourth quarter Monday at the United Center, Chicago rallied to win 94-92.
Chicago had to hold on at the finish as the Nuggets pulled within one on two Carmelo Anthony free throws with 11 seconds to go, then missed a 3-pointer that would have tied the game.
Joakim Noah snagged a game-high 19 rebounds for the Bulls. Rose finished with six assists.
Chicago plays host to Golden State on Thursday, then welcomes in Washington on Saturday.

By Bud L. Ellis Derrick Rose came into Monday night’s contest leading the
NBA in scoring. But he wasn’t even the most prolific young
Chicago Bulls scorer on this night. Luol Deng hung a career-best 40 points on the previously unbeaten Blazers, helping
Chicago move to 2-1 on the young season with a 110-98 victory over the Blazers.

The Chicago Bulls have signed forward Joakim Noah to a five-year contract extension worth $60 million.
Noah was rumored to potentially be a part of a trade that would send him to Denver for Carmelo Anthony.
However, the Bulls ultimately decided that Noah was not on the table and the Nuggets were no longer interested in a deal.
Noah had said repeatedly that he wanted to remain in Chicago and the two sides have been working on a deal for quite some time. ( Read More…)

After being inducted into the NBA’s Hall of Fame, former Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen will get a statue inside the team’s arena.
The bronze status of Pippen will join former teammate Michael Jordan and be unveiled during the upcoming season.
The only difference is that Pippen’s statue will be inside the arena while Jordan’s greets fans on the outside.
Pippen called being inducted into the Hall of Fame a great honor and said Jordan was the best teammate he could ever have. ( Read More…)

The Chicago Bulls appear set to take a chance on a former all-star regaining his form. Pending a physical exam, they will sign free agent Tracy McGrady this week.
McGrady has expressed his interest in joining the Bulls via his Twitter page, but would have to accept a lesser role than when he was starring for the Houston Rockets and one of the highest-paid players in the NBA. McGrady would undoubtedly come off the bench, hopefully providing a spark for a team lacking depth last season. ( Read More…)

The Chicago Bulls have signed veteran forward Kurt Thomas and completed a sign-and-trade for point guard Earl Watson.
The 37-year old is an excellent rebounder and defender and is a solid addition to an already formidable front line.
Watson was considered a prime candidate to head to Miami, but they ended up with Carlos Arroyo instead.
He will now serve as the backup point guard to Derrick Rose. ( Read More…)

Three games in a row. Two games above .500. Wins in back-to-back games since the All-Star break.
The Chicago Bulls hope they are finding their stride at just the right time.
Kirk Hinrich scored 20 points to lead the way, and the Bulls continued their good work with a 100-94 win at Minnesota on Friday night.
Derrick Rose scored 19 points and Luol Deng added 18 for Chicago, which won for the fifth time in its past six games and stayed one percentage point ahead of Miami for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Bulls trail fifth-place Toronto by two games.
Minnesota led this one 58-55 at halftime and was as close as one point early in the fourth quarter. Brad Miller led Chicago with 10 rebounds.

Were the playoffs to begin today, the Chicago Bulls would be in the postseason. But the Bulls hope for far better things in the season’s final 31 games.
Chicago opens the post All-Star section of its schedule Wednesday night on the road against the New York Knicks. The Bulls are eighth in the Eastern Conference standings, holding onto the final playoff spot in the conference by one game over Milwaukee.
But with a record of 25-26, the Bulls hope they can play better down the stretch and move up in the conference standings. It’s certainly possible, given that Chicago sits just two games behind sixth-seed Charlotte, and is one percentage point behind seventh-place Miami.
The Bulls showed some signs of better play in the two weeks leading up to the All-Star break, winning six of their final 10 games. Chicago returns home Friday to play 13-win Minnesota, then plays host to 20-32 Philadelphia on Saturday.
Chicago has a chance to continue its winning ways, as the Bulls don’t see a team with a plus-.500 record until Portland comes to town next weekend.

The Chicago Bulls suspended forward Tyrus Thomas for one game, for “conduct detrimental to the team.” The Bulls did not provide further specifics.
Thomas missed seven weeks earlier in the season with a broken left forearm, in a time where the Bulls were decimated by injuries and when coach Vinny Del Negro’s job appeared on the line.
But the Bulls have rebounded as of late, placing themselves firmly in contention for the Eastern Conference playoff race. (Granted, any team with a record around .500 finds themselves “in the playoff race.”)
Thomas had been averaging 8.5 points and 6.2 rebounds over 25 games this season.
The Bulls were already short-handed in the frontcourt before Thomas’ suspension, as starting center Joakim Noah had been shut down until after the All-Star break with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
The Bulls face the Heat on Saturday night.
