Deng takes scoring load as Bulls top Blazers
By Bud L. Ellis Derrick Rose came into Monday night’s contest leading the NBA in scoring. But he wasn’t even the most prolific young Chicago Bulls scorer on this night. Luol Deng hung a career-best 40 points on the previously unbeaten Blazers, helping Chicago move to 2-1 on the young season with a 110-98 victory over the Blazers. Deng sparked a 12-0 first-quarter run that gave the Bulls the separation they needed. He finished the first quarter with 16 points and scored 16 more in the third quarter. Rose finished with 16 points and added a career-high-tying 13 assists. Chicago is off to a 2-1 start, and will look to make it 3-1 when it plays host to the New York Knicks on Thursday night. —30—Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 6:58 pm by bud
